Fed: Govt rules out dropping extra from private health rebate

CANBERRA, Feb 7 AAP - Health Minister Kay Patterson was today forced to rule out droppingextras including dental work and gym memberships from the taxpayer-funded 30 per centprivate health insurance rebate.

Earlier today, she left the way open to consider excluding extra services from therebate, which costs over $2 billion a year.

"Look, I need to look at the rebate," she told ABC radio.

But her office later issued a statement ruling out any change to extra services suchas dental and physiotherapy and challenging Labor to do the same.
